About this printable

Children often learn 2D shapes thoroughly and meet 3D ones as an afterthought, which is why so many call a cube a square. This pack teaches both, and specifically the relationship between them.

The 2D half covers naming, sides and corners, and sorting by property rather than by look. The 3D half covers faces, edges and vertices, and includes nets to cut out and fold, which is the moment most children genuinely understand that a cube is made of squares.

There are also real world shape hunts for indoors and outdoors. Thirty-eight activity pages plus a cover, A4 and US Letter, with answer keys for every counting and sorting page. The nets print on ordinary paper but hold their shape much better on thin card, and folding guides are marked with dashed lines. Personal and single-classroom use.
