About this printable
Social stories for kids work best when the child sees a familiar situation described calmly, in order, before it happens. This set gives you twelve short stories written in simple first person language for early years and primary aged children, including autistic children and children who need extra rehearsal before a change of routine. Speech therapists, resource teachers and parents can all use the same twelve titles, so home and school stay consistent.
The stories cover taking turns, waiting for my turn to speak, sharing toys, using the toilet at school, keeping hands to myself, quiet voice indoors, joining a game, saying sorry and meaning it, going to a new place, riding the school bus, a substitute teacher day, and getting ready for bed. Each story runs four to six pages with one idea and one picture per page, then finishes with a two question check page. An editable Word file adds eight further short stories (a dentist visit, a haircut, a new school, feeling angry, waiting, trying a new food, the supermarket and when plans change) with bracketed spaces for names, places and times, so a story can read as if it were written for that one child.
Print at A4 or US Letter, in colour, or in greyscale using your printer's greyscale setting, single sided for a stapled booklet or double sided to save paper. Personal and single classroom use is licensed; resale, sharing and redistribution are not allowed.

Plain paper is fine for worksheets; use 160-300 gsm card for anything you plan to cut out, and laminate or slide pages into a wallet when they need to survive a dry-wipe pen.
