Scissor skills develop in a fixed order, and handing a child a shape to cut out before they can manage a straight line guarantees frustration. This pack follows the real sequence.

It begins with fringe snips where the paper does not need to be turned at all, then short straight lanes, then long ones, then gentle curves, then zigzags and corners, and only then closed shapes. Early pages have cutting lanes almost a centimetre wide, narrowing as the pack goes on.
